FREQUENTLY ASKED QUESTIONS
Everything you need to know about shopping, consigning and volunteering with Preloved Threads. Can’t find your answer? Reach out — we’re happy to help.
SHOPPING AT THE SALE
IS IT FREE TO SHOP AT PRELOVED THREADS?
Yes! Admission to our public sale is free. Because Preloved Threads is located inside the Just Between Friends (JBF) sale, you’ll need a free JBF ticket to enter the building. Simply show your ticket on your phone at the main entrance.
Want to shop before the public? We also offer $5 Presale tickets for early access.
HOW DO I FIND PRELOVED THREADS INSIDE THE JBF SALE?
Preloved Threads is located inside the Just Between Friends (JBF) sale in the Showplex at the Washington State Fairgrounds. We rent a section of the same building and operate during the same public shopping hours.
Enter through the main JBF entrance using your free JBF ticket. Once inside, you’ll be able to access both JBF and Preloved Threads — one ticket gets you into both sales.
CAN I TRY ON CLOTHES AT THE SALE?
Yes! Dressing rooms are available. They can get busy, so some shoppers wear a tank top, fitted shirt or leggings to make it easy to try pieces on without waiting for a dressing room.
DO YOU OFFER REFUNDS OR RETURNS?
All sales are final, and we do not offer returns or exchanges. We encourage you to look items over carefully before purchasing.
If you discover an item was damaged in a way that wasn’t noticeable at the time of purchase, contact us before the sale ends and we’ll review it on a case-by-case basis. Once the sale has closed, we cannot issue refunds.
DOES PRELOVED THREADS HAVE A STORE?
No. Preloved Threads is a pop-up women’s consignment sale, not a year-round store. We typically hold two large sales each year.
CONSIGNING
WHAT PERCENTAGE CAN I EARN?
Standard consignors earn 60% of the sale price of their items.
Want to earn more? Consignors who volunteer can earn up to 75%, depending on the number of hours volunteered. Visit our Volunteer page for earning levels and perks.
WHAT IS THE CONSIGNOR FEE?
The consignor fee is $20 per consignor account and is paid when you register for each sale. The fee helps cover costs including venue rental, equipment, registration and tagging software, and advertising.
Consignor fees are non-refundable.
WHY DO I HAVE TO PAY THE CONSIGNOR FEE UP FRONT?
Your fee confirms your spot in the sale and helps cover costs we incur before the event begins. Because space is limited and many of these expenses are paid in advance, the consignor fee is non-refundable.
One thought: You could actually eliminate this question entirely because the answer above already covers it. I would remove it. Less repetition = a better FAQ page.
ARE THERE LIMITS TO HOW MANY ITEMS I CAN SELL?
Yes. Consignors may bring up to 150 hanging items and 200 total items per sale.
If you bring more than 150 total items and plan to pick up your unsold items rather than donate them, you are required to volunteer for one tear-down/sorting shift at the end of the sale.
WHAT HAPPENS TO ITEMS THAT DON’T SELL?
At the end of the sale, unsold items are sorted by consignor number. You can choose to pick up your unsold items or mark them for donation.
Donated items are delivered to our local charity partner or, when needed, other donation organizations in the area.
WHAT IF ONE OF MY ITEMS IS MISSING AFTER THE SALE?
We work hard to keep consignor items organized and secure, but with thousands of items moving through the sale, occasionally an unsold item may not make it back to its owner.
If an item is missing and does not appear as sold on your report, please email us within 48 hours after the sale ends so we can investigate.
VOLUNTEERING
DO I HAVE TO VOLUNTEER TO CONSIGN?
No. Volunteering is optional for most consignors — but it comes with some great perks!
Volunteer consignors can earn up to 75% of their sales and get earlier access to shop the presales. The more hours you volunteer, the more you can earn and the earlier you can shop.
If you bring more than 150 items and plan to pick up your unsold items rather than donate them, you are required to volunteer for one tear-down/sorting shift at the end of the sale.

DROP-OFF, PICK-UP & PRESALE SHOPPING
CAN SOMEONE ELSE DROP OFF OR PICK UP MY ITEMS?
Yes. If you can’t personally make your drop-off or pick-up appointment, someone else may do it for you. For pick-up, they will need to know your consignor number.
CAN SOMEONE ELSE SHOP THE PRESALE FOR ME?
Yes. If you’re unable to attend your eligible presale, you may give your shopping spot to someone else. They’ll need your name and consignor number when they arrive.
